Ireland Vacation Package – 4 Day Self Drive
4 Day Self Drive Overview
The East coast of America to Ireland is more accessible than ever before meaning it is now possible to visit Ireland for a long weekend from the States. Visit castles, fairy forts, the wild Atlantic way and stay in dainty little towns on Ireland’s West coast.
Immerse yourself in our culture and learn about our ancient history, while you make new friends and memories never to be forgotten.
Dublin has become one of the most popular cities in Europe, with a bustling city center there is plenty to see and experience. Dublin’s tourist attractions vary depending on your own preferences but you will have the day to visit the Guinness Store House to take in the breathtaking views of Dublin City from a height while enjoying a Guinness you poured yourself. Make your way into the heart of the city afterwards where you can find many restaurants to satisfy your every desire. While in Ireland we recommend choosing as many fish dishes as possible. As you are on an island after all. After dinning make your way to Trinity College or the national museum and soak up some knowledge before collecting your car and beginning to make your way to your accommodation for the night.
Wake up the next morning to a cooked breakfast and begin making your way to Galway. Galway is roughly a 2 hour drive from your hotel but you’ll be pleased to know your first stop is a little over an hour away, Clonmacnoise! Clonmacnoise is a monastery set on the scenic river Shannon steeped in history dating back to the 10th century. From here you’ll begin to make your way to Galway where you’ll have a choice of exquisite restaurants again. After lunch you can book into your hotel followed by a wander through shop street, world famous for its buskers and cobblestones and become one of the locals. There’s plenty to see and do with the Galway City Museum, Spanish arch and Galway cathedral all within close vicinity. As the sunsets you can take a stroll out to Salthill and watch it set behind the Atlantic sea or enjoy a drink in one of the many lively pubs seeping with traditional music and characters alike.
The next morning you’ll be making your way to one of Ireland’s most treasured sites, the Cliffs of Moher. Your drive will take you through the Burren, it doesn’t get much wilder than here. A karst landscape with limestone to the horizon. A rare phenomenon that will stop you in your tracks. The trip will take roughly an hour and a half but it is more than likely to be two with photo stops. Before you make it to the cliffs you’ll stop in Doolin for a bite to eat before making your way from there to the top of the cliffs. If you are feeling adventurous there’s a 16 km round coastal walk from Doolin that is spectacular or else a walk from Hags Head that is a 10 km walk. Alternatively you can drive to the top where there’s a state of the art visitor center and accessible walkways that will allow you to enjoy the views from the highest point of the cliffs.
From here you’ll be ready to take it easy in one of the local towns or villages and enjoy a quiet drink while enjoying some music before returning to your hotel to retire for the night.
The following morning you’ll checkout and return to either Dublin (3hrs) or Shannon Airport (1hr)
